Human Growth Hormone Side Effects

Human growth hormone or HGH treatment is praised by many as being a fountain of youth which searched for since the beginning of time. Anyone thinking of using it should become aware that there are some side effects of HGH. HGH was originally used in replacement therapy for children and others that were deficient in HGH. Nowadays, athletes are using HGH more and more.

Elderly people with age-related health problems and aging baby boomers are using HGH more and more to postpone the aging process, however, the side effect of human growth hormone can be significant. Side effects of HGH appear to be direclty related to dosage levels.

The higher the HGH dose, the more side effects can occur, so it's important to understand where normal levels are. Resarch of HGH levels in very healthy volunteers displayed a wide variety of levels, all of which were considered to be normal.

Research has sown that levels of human growth hormone change over a lifetime, and after an individual is fully grown, the levels drop.

Therefore, when determining the normal levels of HGH, and the potential for side effects from too much, the normal HGH level for the patient's age should be the principal measurement. Adults and children that are HGH deficient should consider replacement therapy to restore their HGH blood levels to the normal range.

For deficient patients, replacement therapy often alleviates side effects of deficiency of HGH, which are relatively rare. For older adults and athletes that add to normal levels of this hormone, treatment with HGH elevate the blood levels to put them above the normal range, which gives them excess HGH.

These people have a high risk of side effects of HGH. Before HGH therapy started, the syndrome of excess HGH could only be found in adults whose pituitary glands produced too much HGH, which condition is called acromegaly. The symptoms of acromegaly were identical to the side effects in adults that take too much human growth hormone in treatments.
